As a bride to be, Lauren Schaefer wanted her hair to be perfect. She had been admiring wedding hair updos since she was a kid. And now that her big day was approaching, the 27 year old nurse didn't want anything left to chance.

"My mom always said whatever kind of wedding updo hairstyles you decided on, you wanted to look at it as the icing on the cake," Schaefer said.

"Oh yeah," Lauren advised, "remind the stylist to go easy. Don't let them bound and gag your hair too tightly. One of my friends actually experienced an achy scalp - her hair was pulled so tight!"

"Can't say for sure," she went on, "but my stylist told me that an up hairdo works best for thick, shoulder length or longer hair. So I let my hair grow out some. But if there hadn't been time for my hair to grow out we would have been able to use hair extensions to create the desired affect."

"She also recommended that I not wash my hair the morning of the ceremony. Seems most updos can be styled more easily if your hair has been washed the previous day rather than the day of the wedding."
