For the most part Gretchen Thorne didn't need to lavish attention on her hair. She and her wavy hair had reached a truce with her first hairstyle for short wavy hair back in high school. She had worn it in one or another loose wavy hair style ever since.

"Some days I do," Thorne remarked, "but most of the time I don't have the time it takes to dry it straight. And then, you know, to get the ends to all flip up in the same direction?"

"Which is why a medium layered haircut works best. It gives me options."

"On days when I want an in-between wavy curly look I'll just throw some gel on it. Then fluff it with my fingers as it dries."

Gretchen said, "If I want more of a wavy look, I'll use my smoothing cream along with some mousse. Then I'll tousle my hair a bit as I dry it with a dryer. Using my fingers again, only this time to separate and comb it. Leaving the hair brush in the drawer however."

"Another of my favorite wavy hair tips, and I'm just full of them having worn a hairstyle for short wavy hair for so long, is to pull it back into a pony tail. Then when it's wet tie down the pony tail with elastic ties all the way to the end. After it dries, once again I'll "comb" it with my fingers. This way I end up with nice even waves."
