Medium Length Hairstyles: Lessons Learned
How To Decide Between the Various Sleek and Sexy Medium Hairstyles
Question: I have long wavy hair but am thinking of going with something like one of the stylish medium length hairstyles. What should I know before I take the plunge and turn my scissor happy stylist loose?

I know how you feel. Having had longer hair for so long it was not easy to decide if I wanted to cut it or not.
But all the time spent in the bathroom taking care of my long locks, well, it just became more trouble than it was worth. Especially when summer was rolling around. I wanted a shorter style just not too short. Because you know how shorter hair does not always look good with some face shapes and all.
No I was thinking something cute and layered. About shoulder length seemed about right to me.

The first lesson learned was that medium length hair gave me plenty of versatility. I discovered this after talking it over with my stylist. You can go with a layered cut, a longer bob, shags make the list as does a blunt hairstyle with bangs. Plus you can wear your tresses up or down. And if long enough pulled back in a pony tail at some point.
The next lesson is that women with thinner hair find a medium length hairstyle works well. When you have layers cut in they almost magically add body because excess weight is taken out. Giving you fuller looking locks.
Now I was surprised to find out when you ask for a medium cut it can mean different things to different people. So it's good to talk it over first. But usually such styles fall as long as shoulder skimming to somewhere just below your ear lobs.
Oh yeah and some medium cuts are more low maintenance than others. Seems other mid length styles can take just about as much looking after as my long hair did.
Still such cuts are popular for a reason. Much like Goldilocks learned your hair is not too short and not too long. It's just right. And if your hair is straight or a bit wavy all the better. Those with thick, curly hair should be careful so as not to end up with the dreaded triangle hair however.
The final lesson is one already touched on. Since many of these in-between cuts come with layers, which can sometimes be choppy, they set off any face type quite nicely. You are framing your face with softening layers that help you look your prettiest. Thankyouverymuch.
Bottom line? Medium length hairstyles can be chic, yet practical, and oh so stylish.
