Deirdre Carson, 16, wanted to check out inverted bob hair-styles as soon as she saw them in the news.

"I thought that was just such a cool hair style. It looked so cool and so sharp," said Deirdre. "I decided at once that an inverted bob hairstyle was my thing. My mom was pretty pleased too. She's been after me to get my hair cut recently- I guess she was really worried I was going to get myself dreads or something! So any kind of bob cut would be much easier for her to swallow?"

Deirdre thought she knew what she wanted but changed her mind on a trip to the mall.

"It was such a weird experience, you know?," she asked. "I mean whichever place I looked it was all these women with inverted bob hairstyles. And not just girls but women my mom's age too. Surreal. There I was wanting this style but it looked like every other female had just gotten it done too."

Deirdre almost gave up on her inverted bob hair styles dream. Then she made up her mind.

"I thought, so what if everyone else has got that style too, I'm not gonna back down, no way. I'm going to get myself an inverted bob with attitude. One that's gonna stand out from the crowd."

Deirdre did some research looking at pictures of the inverted bob hairstyle before coming up with her own version.

"I got the basic cut done at my local salon. I told them exactly how much hair I wanted cut off and how I wanted it to look. I made the back really short but I have these great hanging layers at the sides. Some asymmetrical cutting, a bit of unusual coloring, and I was done."

Carson got a lot of attention with her new twist on inverted bob hairstyles. "I might name it after myself," she laughed.
