Advice About Haircuts For Naturally Curly Hair

Looking For Haircuts For Curly Hair?

haircuts for naturally curly hair Haircuts for naturally curly hair were on Jocelyn Hughes' mind a lot recently.

The 32 year old, iPod plugged firmly into her ear, explained as she gestured towards her hair with her hand, "As you can see, my hair is naturally curly. For most women, and I'm no exception, picking the right hairstyle is always tough anyway. But when you want easy care
hair cuts for naturally curly hair, well, let me tell you, the choice becomes even tougher!"

Like many of us do, Jocelyn turned to her friends for help. And surprisingly found some great styling solutions for her naturally curly hair. Yeah good ideas even.

"I had no idea that my friends would come up with such great tips," she laughed. "Guess there's a stylist hidden in all of us. Anyway it was really great for me because I hated the idea of going to some fancy salon where I didn't know anyone and had no idea what kind of styles I should be thinking about. Much less if I should stick with long, go medium or shorter still. Know what I mean?"

One friend suggested that Jocelyn cut her hair a bit shorter at the sides to bring out her delicate features.

"Also another girl said I should try using a little mousse. Styling naturally curly hair can be especially challenging too because too much mousse can make those curls next door to lifeless. Some smoothing serum after my shower really made my curls look silky and gorgeous."

How does Jocelyn feel about haircuts for naturally curly hair now? "I love it," she exclaimed. "Cutting away the length also got rid of a lot of the weight off my head. I never realized hair could be so heavy until it hit the floor and I was free of it! Now I feel so much lighter and freer with my short curls. Even better I'm receiving a ton of compliments on my cute new look. But I guess I will need to visit the salon regularly to keep it in shape though."

Who knows? Next Jocelyn might consider experimenting with color!

Five Tips For Making Easy, Gorgeous Naturally Curly Hair A Reality

Be a Smoothie: Smoothing those curls starts in the shower. The idea is to add styling products that contain silicones when you hair is still wet. You know to help tame it and reduce static?

Lose the Towel: For any number of reasons towel drying curly hair after a shampoo session is a bad idea. Not just because you rough up the ends encouraging frizz, plus your hair doesn't dry evenly. And when that happens it can get even curlier. Perhaps too much so. A curlier frizzy look. Two good reasons why air or blow drying is better.

Salon Tip: Whenever possible you want to work your blow drying pointing down your hair shafts. This way the cuticle will lie flat. With your brush you're creating tension to stretch out and somewhat tame the curl. Easier said than done I know.

Diffuse the Situation: Ever tried to style and dry your hair by attaching your diffuser to the end of your blow dryer? It works. Gently direct your hair towards the air so it can be lifted and gain some body.

Remember the Shape: Like Jocelyn found out, often you can expect your stylist to put in layers starting about two inches from the bottom. This layered approach helps you avoid a face-widening, triangular shape to your style.

So why not like Jocelyn consider shorter hairstyles? Then take the plunge and go for short, tousled curly type tresses.
