Everyone's talking about bobs and short haircuts these days.

The fashion magazines are brimming with models sporting the look.

And whether you have spotted a bob on Rihanna or Katie Holmes or not, it doesn't matter. Bobs and other short hairstyles are generating a lot of buzz these days. As more than one female celebrity makes the news simply for having gotten her hair cropped.

"I love trendy bob haircuts," revealed Shannon McGinnis 21. "At the moment I'm totally into checking out as many daring short bob haircut photos as I can lay my hands on. To see all the options I can for this style of hair before this Saturday."

What's happening on Saturday?

Well, that's the day Shannon's going in to town to get herself one of the very latest bobs and short haircuts as well. Or what she refers to as “C-Day” - as in cut her hair off day.

Shannon won't be unaccompanied either. Her two best friends, Kristin and Mandy Rose will also be going along to watch Shannon's transformation from long haired girl next door to sleek bob hair styled sophisticate.

"We are all really looking forwards to it," said Kristin. "If the bob comes out well on Shannon, I'll get myself one too, next week."

But Mandy Rose isn't fully sold on the bob idea. "I don't know," she demurred, shaking her head, "but all this craze for bobs and short haircuts, well I just don't think it's gonna last that long. I don't think I'll get one ever. You have to wait so long for your hair to grow out again."

That doesn't deter Shannon or Kristin however. They've been debating various styles of bobs from the conventional type to the new inverted cut. Shannon prefer a short bob while Kristin wants a longer medium length bob.

Bobs and short haircuts tip: Always discuss just how much hair you want taken off with the hairdresser before you get the cut done. "Otherwise," said Shannon, "they may take off more hair than you want to lose and that may not suit you. It happened to my cousin one time, they totally ruined the look she wanted to get. But I won't be making that mistake!"
