Unbiased Review of Three Aveda Hair Products
Question: Which product will help my fine, prone-to-fly-aways hair look fuller, thicker with more body?
|
Guess you're unaware that beauty company Aveda offers hair products geared specifically for those with problems with fine hair, huh?
Well, the line of products I'm referring to is called Pure Abundance. And some claim they work almost like magic.
Let's take a quick peak at unbiased reviews of three of these.
Pure Abundance Shampoo
Clay Conditioner
Pure Abundance Hair Potion
|
Product: Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Shampoo
Claim to Fame: It's a shampoo for fine hair that claims to add amazing volume to your hair.
Type of hair this product is best for: Fine thin hair
PROS
Guess you could say this shampoo aids in thickening. So it gives thin, fine even baby fine hair lots of body. That and the way it makes your hair look.
You'll likely love the smell as it smells heavenly.
Like all Aveda hair products it's made from all natural ingredients yet does a good job at cleaning your hair.
CONS
Wish it was less expensive.
Some complain their hair didn't feel as smooth as with other shampoos.
Bottom line: If you want sexy, voluminous fine hair with plenty of shine you might give it a try.
Product: Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Clay Conditioner
Claim to Fame: Effortlessly adds volume to fine hair giving your thicker looking and feeling hair with every use. Will not leave you with limp looking hair.
Type of hair this product is best for: fine hair
How it works: It's a very rich, thick conditioner that imparts the look of fluffy fullness and body to fine hair. The conditioner clay binds to the acacia gum resulting in a "better hair through chemistry" kind of thing, Amazing.
Tricks of the trade: Use no more than a dime sized dollop, spread over your palms. Apply that from the scalp out to damp hair.
PROS
Less apt to weigh hair down.
Smells delicious.
Great for volume.
Only need a little so a tube lasts .
Squeeze tube is both handy and easy to use when in the shower.
Natural ingredients.
CONS
Like other Aveda products it's felt to be a bit on the pricey side - but in the same breath said to be worth it.
Bottom line: Plumps up hair nicely. Unlike many conditioners that add weight but not enough volume, you should note a huge difference in the amount of body and fullness.
Product: Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion
Claim to Fame As the name implies it's an volumizing elixir gives instant body and fullness to fine hair you otherwise would not have. Giving you volume that lasts all day.
Type of hair this is best for: Thin, fine hair
How it works: This somewhat strange yet cool product starts out as a powder. But almost like magic when you shake it or touch it and it turns into a liquid. And when applied to your roots (doesn't matter if they are damp or dry) it's supposed to add volume and texture to your hair. It thickens hair on contact while practically disappearing into your tresses. For these reasons some swear this represents hair alchemy in a bottle.
Tricks of the trade: You can sprinkle it directly onto your roots. Or use your fingers to rub it a bit to get the desired volume. Just be sure you're done styling your hair before applying. If there's a trick you need to carefully tap the bottle and make sure only a little bit comes out. Otherwise the opening will gunk up.
PROS
A little goes a very loooong way. Especially when compared to how much of this is used verses other similar products. You'll likely find a few light taps of this "potion" and your fine thin hair is energized with positive body and remarkable energy it didn't have before.
It's impervious to humidity. While giving almost unbelievable body to blown dry and combed hair.
Works fast. In next to no time your hair takes on an amazing liveliness and noticeable sheen.
CONS
Most common complaint? The price. This hair potion is not inexpensive.
Dispensing can be tricky too. The hole the potion is supposed to come out can get clogged as the powder semi-liquefies prematurely. Think salt shaker in summer! So getting the hang of producing the desired results takes practice and patience. But it is worth the effort.
The bottle is tiny, A tad over half an ounce. But since you need so little to get the volume you need it actually lasts a looooooong time.
This can make your hair feel a little bit sticky. And if you go crazy can leave fine hair clumped together and greasy-looking.
Bottom line: Most find the Aveda Hair Potion really does work as advertised. When it comes to volume it beats hair spray, mousse and teasing hands down. Nothing you can do or try compares to the results this potion provides.
So there you have it. The good, the bad and the not so ugly about these Aveda hair products.
Another one of the Aveda hair products to try, while not reviewed here, might be the Aveda Shampure Conditioner.
